2020 Rio Gender & Sexuality Film Festival
THE 2020 RIO GENDER & SEXUALITY FILM FESTIVAL PARK AT THE DRIVE WITH “QUEEN OF LAPA”, AMONG 12 LGBTQI+ FILMS.
The 2020 Rio Gender and Sexuality Film Festival (RioFGSC) arrives in the year that takes 12 LGBTQI+ films of fiction, documentary and animation, feature and short films for Drive-in das Artes.
The festival is marked by the premiere in Rio of the feature Queen of Lapa, which tells a life story of activist Luana Muniz, in the Lapa neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro.
The film made by the American director and producer, Theodore Collatos and Brazilian director and producer, Carolina Monnerat, was awarded at several film festivals, among them NewFest in New York.
Eleven Brazilian and international films from Spain, USA, France and Holland will be shown in two short sessions at the festival. Frenchman Les Santos de Kiko shows Kiko, a Japanese illustrator, who is overwhelmed by a strange inspiration, spying on a gay couple on the beach that she took to a date that changed her life and broke her social rules. The animation Carne, a co-production between Brazil and Spain, tells intimate and personal stories of five women who share their experiences in relation to the body, from childhood to old age. At the premiere of the Dutch Father Figure, founder of Kiki House, Guilliano explains: “being black and gay means two attacks against you”. In this narrative, he and his friends share personal experiences of homophobia, racism and marginalization in everyday life, and Voguing!
Following all current security protocols, RioFGSC takes place on August 11, 2020, at 5:30 pm, 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm at Drive-in das Artes, located in Cidade das Artes - Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. Tickets are sold online only. The complete program is available at www.riofgsc.com.br
